Dexter's Story

Dexter
Breed: shih tzu/yorkie mix

Dexter is a young adult, small-breed terrier mix with the most handsome little beard. Known lovingly as “Dexy,” he’s an excellent lap dog who gets along well with other dogs and cats and is kennel trained.

Dexter was found as a stray in a rural area, and it’s clear he didn’t receive much care or socialization before coming into rescue. Because of this, he can be shy at first, but with patience, consistency, and love, he blossoms into a sweet, gentle, cuddly, and happy boy.

Dexter’s favorite place is right beside you, whether that’s snuggled on the couch or curled up in bed. A calm, quiet home where he feels safe is essential, as is an adopter who understands he will need a couple of weeks to decompress and build trust before his loving personality fully shines.

A fenced yard is preferred, as Dexter experiences anxiety with leash walking. He would do well as an only dog or with other pets in the home.

A home without children is preferred, not because he is aggressive, but because he finds their high energy overwhelming.

Dexter has many wonderful years of love and companionship to offer and will make an incredibly devoted lap dog for the right forever family.
Prior to meeting or adopting any of our wonderful animals, we ask that you please fill out our online application: https://form.jotform.com/223268341300041

We are a 100% volunteer organization and have to work other jobs to pay the bills. Please give us up to 48 hours to respond.

Submission of an adoption application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee approval. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please note all animals in the home must be altered, up to date on vaccines, and be on heartworm prevention. We understand there are some special cases and will take those into consideration.
