This adorable litter came to us from South Carolina. Mom is a husky mix and dad appears to be some type of shepherd/mastiff mix. We are small now but we will grow into much larger pups. Our foster homes are just learning our personalities so look for more bio info soon!
On 02/16/2024 Dew was found to have a rectal prolapse and underwent a repair at Franklinton Hospital. She went home but on 2/18/2024 she was found to be bleeding severely again, and because it would be a few hours before the same Vet practice could see her again, she was taken to Animal Emergency Hospital & Urgent Care on Vick Ave. Raleigh. There she underwent a second procedure to reduce the prolapse. It was determined that she also had lacerations in the skin from previous purse string suture pulling through.
Unfortunately, later on 2/18/2024 the prolapse occurred for the third time, thereby warranting a Colopexy procedure @ 2am on 02/19/2024. This involved making an incision in the abdomen in order to further repair the rectum/colon. She did very well and was discharged early afternoon on 02/19/2024. She was to wear an E-collar for 7-10 days and stay on crate rest or confined to a small room where she would not engage in much activity. Suture removal suggested for 7-10 days.
During this recovery period Dew has proven to have a very sweet personality, liking to 'shadow' her foster mama. She is extremely vocal when confined to a crate, hence she is allowed to be out of the crate under strict supervision. She initially had extremely frequent very small soft/liquid stools, however, as time passed they became less frequent, in larger amounts, and becoming formed.
