Denver's Story

Denver is best guess Australian Shepherd border collie mix. He’s between six and eight months old. He was pulled from a very overcrowded rural shelter.

Denver is unique in the fact that he is heterochromia. He also likes to be wherever you are. He will just follow you around and look at you. He’s very patient.

Right now, he sleeps in the crate at night time in his foster home. So far he’s been non-destructive in the house. He’s being fostered with seven other dogs, including puppies and gets along fine with them. He does like to play hard sometimes, but is more gentle with the littler ones.
He walks good in a leash, but could use some more work on that. Like most dogs when he sees a squirrel or rabbit he wants to go play.

He knows how to go in and out of the doggie door in his foster home. His house training is coming along wonderfully, but of course will still need more work, especially when moving to a new home.

Denver has met some cats when we’re walking and doesn’t seem to want to chase them. He wants to just kind of smell them and that’s it.

Denver is available for adoption with a preapproved application and a scheduled meet and greet.

Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3 charitable, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
