MEET DENALI — AKA MONKEY <br/><br/>Looking for a tiny little lap dog?<br/><br/>Keep scrolling. <br/><br/>Denali is a purebred Great Pyrenees, born March 21, 2026, and at only 4 months old, hes already about 40 pounds. We expect this fluffy boy to reach somewhere around 125150 pounds when fully grown.<br/><br/>In other words, Denali is currently a puppy. Eventually, he will be a small white bear.<br/><br/>And he has the toes to prove it! Denali has the classic Great Pyrenees double dewclaws on his back feet, giving him six toes on each back foot. <br/><br/>We call him Monkey, and he is an absolutely wonderful combination of laid-back cuddle bug, gentle giant-in-training, and occasionally ridiculous puppy.<br/><br/> ABOUT MONKEY<br/><br/>Denali LOVES people, including kids, and he absolutely loves other dogs. Hes curious about our cat, although the cat has made it abundantly clear that she does not share his enthusiasm. <br/><br/>He is incredibly gentle for such a big puppy. He takes treats very softly, doesn't jump on people, and shows no guarding behavior with food, treats, or toys. He's so comfortable sharing that he will sometimes eat breakfast right out of the same bowl with one of our other dogs.<br/><br/>He enjoys playing, but overall he's a remarkably chill puppy. He's affectionate, loves cuddles, rides well in the car, and doesn't feel the need to bark just for the sake of hearing himself talk. When Monkey has something to say, there's usually a reason.<br/><br/>He's kennel trained and about 95% potty trained. He already walks fairly well on a leash and is currently learning sit, stay, wait, up, down, off, and place.<br/><br/>For a teething puppy, he also does surprisingly well about leaving things alone that aren't his.<br/><br/>There is, however, an unresolved misunderstanding regarding fuzzy slippers.<br/><br/>Monkey believes they are stuffed animals.<br/><br/>We have been unable to convince him otherwise.<br/><br/> HE ALSO HAS A MINOR WATER OBSESSION<br/><br/>Monkey likes playing in the water bowl.<br/><br/>This is annoying.<br/><br/>There is no nicer way to phrase it. <br/><br/>And we're pretty sure it's not always accidental puppy splashing. He once deliberately took a toy, dunked it in the water bowl, then dropped the soaking-wet toy on the floor to see what would happen.<br/><br/>So apparently we're fostering a scientist.<br/><br/> THE GREAT PYRENEES FINE PRINT<br/><br/>Denali is almost entirely white with some very faint blonde coloring, especially around his ears. That gorgeous fluffy coat requires daily brushing to help prevent mats.<br/><br/>And despite being descended from generations of livestock guardian dogs who lived outdoors in the mountains, Monkey has apparently decided his ancestors suffered enough.<br/><br/>This dog LOVES his air conditioning.<br/><br/>At night, he sleeps with a window AC unit set to 66 degrees and blowing toward him. Without it, he gets restless and pants.<br/><br/>If your preferred bedroom temperature falls somewhere between meat locker and penguin enclosure, you may have just found your dog.<br/><br/>He also has one particularly hilarious personality trait.<br/><br/>If Denali doesn't want to do something you've asked him to do, he sometimes employs an ancient Great Pyrenees negotiation technique:<br/><br/>He goes completely limp.<br/><br/>You wanted the 40-pound puppy to move?<br/><br/>Monkey has reviewed your request.<br/><br/>Monkey has denied your request.<br/><br/>Good luck. <br/><br/>Denali is already neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and current on preventatives.<br/><br/>His future family needs to understand that the adorable 40-pound fluff ball they bring home is likely going to become a 125150 pound adult dog. He'll need continued training, regular grooming, plenty of room on the couch, and apparently his own contribution toward the electric bill.<br/><br/>In return, they're going to get a sweet, funny, affectionate, gentle, dog-loving, kid-loving, people-loving best friend.<br/><br/>He's playful without being wild, confident without being pushy, affectionate without constantly climbing all over you, and already showing so many of the qualities that make Great Pyrenees such incredible dogs.<br/><br/>Somewhere out there is a family whose couch is missing an enormous white dog.<br/><br/>Monkey would be happy to fix that. <br/><br/>Just don't leave your fuzzy slippers unattended.<br/><br/>And maybe invest in a waterproof mat for the water bowl.<br/>If you think he is right match for your family please fill out application online at Www.bestfriendsforlifeanimalrescue.com
