Delilah's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Delilah is a beautiful Goldendoodle with a soft soul and a quiet heart. She is timid, shy, and still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Based on her timid nature, it’s likely life before rescue was not very kind to her, but despite that, Delilah is slowly beginning to trust and discover comfort, safety, and love.

She is house trained and does well in the home. She tolerates the crate, though it is definitely not her favorite place. Her true happy place is curled up in the human bed once she feels safe and comfortable. That’s where her guard comes down the most and where you’ll really start to see her relax.

Delilah is not food motivated, though she does enjoy eating — preferably alone where she feels secure and unpressured. She does not really understand toys yet and has little interest in playing with them, likely because she never had the opportunity before coming to HVR. She is, however, beginning to show small signs of curiosity and even a little interest in playtime with other dogs.

She enjoys the simple things in life: sunbathing, watching TV, snuggling with canine friends, and quietly existing near the people she trusts. She is fine with other dogs and seems to find comfort in their presence.

Delilah is still learning how to walk on a leash. She is not afraid of the leash itself, she just doesn’t fully understand it yet. New people can be scary for her, and she may bark at delivery drivers or unfamiliar visitors while she continues building confidence.

What Delilah truly needs is a patient, understanding home willing to move at her pace and celebrate the little victories. She may never be the bold, outgoing dog in the center of the action, but for the person willing to earn her trust, the bond you build with her will be incredibly special.

Watching Delilah realize she is finally safe is one of the most rewarding things imaginable. ❤ï ̧ That first belly up we got nearly melted us. We can’t wait to find her perfect forever family to experience that same joy.

The adoption donation is $250 and will include spay, microchip and age-appropriate vaccines.
