Delilah's Story

Delilah is a under a year-old girl who came to us from a PA shelter after Animal Control confiscated dogs from an Amish farm for neglect. She was living with multiple dogs on the farm and absolutely loves other dogs. She will benefit from going home to another male dog who she can play with and help her learn indoor life. She is crate trained and learning to walk on a leash in her foster home. As a puppy she had little socialization, so loud fast movements startle her, but she is super smart and comes around quickly. She is learning quickly how to live in a home. She loves her toys and belly rubs. Her play style is a typical puppy who loves to goof around. She would do best with a young male dog who enjoys her playstyle. CHAAMP follows the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB). They recommend that only reward-based training methods should be used for dog training, including the treatment of behavior problems. https://avsab.org/resources/position-statements/ We are a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild. https://petprofessionalguild.com/ There are many ways to train your dog. Yet the only one that results in a healthier, emotionally stronger relationship between you and your pet is through rewards-based training (communication). Training is supposed to be fun for you and your dog. Rescue dogs need to build their confidence and you can help them. We want our furry companion to trust us and know that they have a choice to collaborate with us. Some need time to come out of their shell and process their feelings. They will appreciate that you are considering their feelings! Soon they learn good things happen when he/she collaborates with you.
