Def Leppard's Story
Def Leppard is an adventurous pup; she recently went on a lake trip and got to enjoy swimming, boating and even jet skiing! Def Leppard loves going for walks and is good with other dogs after a proper introduction. She is friendly with people of all ages, crate trained and mostly housetrained with supervision and regular breaks to the yard. While she grazes on her meals, she loves treats!

Def Leppard was transferred to Valley Humane on 3/6 from Oakland Animal Services. She weighs 10.3 pounds.

This dog had surgery on 5/22/26 for a condition called luxating patella in the left knee. This means that she had surgery to stabilize her left knee cap and to prevent it from spontaneously popping out of place, resulting in lameness and pain. At this time, she is healing well from surgery and her knee cap is stable in the correct position. As expected, she continues to favor the left hind leg and she has been cleared by the veterinary surgeon to return to normal activity. We are hopeful that with time and continued physical therapy, she will continue to slowly improve and use the leg normally. Even with early surgical repair at a young age, it is possible (although we hope, unlikely) that she will need a future surgery for this condition once all of her growth plates have closed. It is recommended that the adopting family share this history with their family veterinarian and seek consultation with a veterinary surgeon in the future if needed.

Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption?
