Basics 1. Housetrained? Yes 2. Experience with dogs? Friendly and has a girlfriend named Nala. Very non-reacive to other dogs including mine and when taken to PACC for a checkup. When taken to the groomer he was very compliant. 3. Experience with cats? unk but likes to chase animals so......I think he might play with them gently if he got used to them. 4. Details on personal history, if known (how did he/she arrive at the shelter): He was found on Palo Verde between Irvington and Valencia running across the sreet to a Circle K This Dog’s Characteristics 1. Describe cuddling behavior/affection level: SUPER sweet, cuddly, affectionate and craves attention. When he gets attention he is calmer and will cradle his head in your hand. 2. Describe play behavior and favorite toys: Deejay is quite young so he is very playful and likes to chew on nylabones and other softer things too but needs to be watched so he does not swallow things. 3. Describe activity level: He would do well with daily walks and we have begun doing this. When his partner Nala was being walked he jumped the 5' fence to come with her as he does not do well seperated from her! He listened AND came straight to us! 4. Look into the dog’s eyes. What is he/she telling you? Deejay is a sweet and loving boy, protective (not aggressive at all) about Nala and makes sure he is with her and she is being treated well, if she is uncomfortable he will gently step in and ask you not to hurt her. He is an absolute doll boy and gentle as can be. Even when playing he is mindful not to hurt you. 5. What are the best adjectives to describe this dog? Playful, happy, sweet and loving 6. What does the dog specifically DO that exemplifies those adjectives (ex. Maybe a good adjective for the dog is “loving”. You know that because he lays his head in your lap.) Just likes to be near, his tail is wagging and he is a curious boy! He is investigative and learning every day. 7. What are the dog’s best qualities? Patient, gentle and active as much as he is allowed to be. 8. What are your favorite things about this dog? Cute behaviors? He is such a smart boy! QUICK to pick up on what you are teaching him. 9. What is/are your favorite physical characteristic(s) of this of this dog? Deejay is a tall thin large dog with medium hair 10. What would the ideal home look like for this dog? Deejay comes with Nala,girlfriend. He will do well with a dog owner that offers indoor opportunities and also has a yard with a doggie door and high wall (he has jumped our five foot fence in front twice!) if they are not home during the day but will need a HIGH fence although he does not want to leave Nala's side. We are going to work on crate training once he is integrated with our dogs. Regular walking 2x per day has been ideal to curb his puppy energy. 11. Anything else that would make this dog stand out to an adopter? Deejay has chewed up a toilet paper roll and he had a baby turtle in his mouth, he likes to inquire, is curious and playful in an innocent way! He responds well to redirections and boundaries and can learn what he is being taught if you are consistent and patient. The sweeest boy.
