Daylen Nov 22's Story
Date into Rescue: 11/2/2022
Reason for being in rescue: stray
Foster location: Foster Home in Spartanburg, SC
Special Needs? Daylen is a young man that is not house trained or crate trained. He will need patience and proper training to accomplish both. He is currently up to date on vaccines for his age and is neutered.
Weight: 9 lbs
Height: 12 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $399

Fence needed? Yes. Daylen requires a physically fenced yard. He will leave for a self guided adventure.

What kind of home would be best for me? Daylen does not require another live-in dog. He is an active young man who enjoys playing with his two foster brothers, so he will enjoy playdates with other dogs. He is kept on a schedule with his crate during the day when his foster mom is away and at bedtime. When she is home, he plays with his foster brothers, explores the yard, or relaxes on the couch. He likes to sit on the back of the couch with the cats. He adores grooming cats, and most of them tolerate his attention. He wants to play with them and may try to chase them, but he’s not aggressive and they just ignore him if they don’t want to play.

What is my personality like? Daylen is a smart, friendly, funny little gentleman. He loves learning and truly wants to please his owner, so he frequently looks for reassurance. He loves to play and has discovered toys, though he’d rather play with his human or foster brothers. He eats in his crate (mostly to keep his brothers from taking food), and he waits with patient excitement to be fed. He loves cuddles but he is still a little hesitant about being picked up. He has discovered he likes several different chewies and treats and waits politely for you to offer one.

Daylen is learning basic commands but will need further training. He learns quickly with praise – harsh voice tones still frighten him. He loves to walk and will stick his head in his harness to help you put it on, and he loves car rides! If allowed, he will follow you everywhere you go, but he’s comfortable playing with his brothers or a toy or resting where he can keep an eye on you.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly

Other tips and tidbits: Daylen is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday 11/2/2021.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
