Darrel was caught by a county field officer. To say that Darrel had to be caught is not being truthful. Darrel allowed the field officer to put a leash on him, then he walked nicely to the truck, and then Darrel even hopped right in without assistance. Darrel was done living life on the streets. He is a seven-year-old Rottweiler mix and he weighs 65 pounds. Volunteers will ask the Home Fur Good employees for feedback on new dogs before taking them out, to get a feel for the new guy. When asked about Darrel the response was “He is the best boy.” Yup, that about sums up Darrel. He is just the biggest, snuggliest teddy bear around. He sits sweetly for treats and it is hard to stop treating him, just for being his amazing self. Darrell had a bit of a dental issue and he can appear to be sticking his tongue out at you, but that is just because those teeth are missing. Home Fur Good has given him a good cleaning and now he is perfect. Darrel has made several new doggie friends at Home Fur Good and he would love to make more. The adoption fee for Darrel is $400, which is higher than it would be under our normal fee schedule. That is because he is one of our Guardian Angel dogs. Guardian Angel dogs are highly desirable adoptees, and their increased fees are used expressly to help defray costs for our rescues with special needs such as advanced medical treatment or training for behavioral issues, or for those who are with us for unusually long periods of time. In this way the Guardian Angels directly help our other rescues! All adoption fees include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.
