Darla would love to live and learn with you.<br/><br/>Meet Darla!!<br/><br/>Darla was found roaming by herself on the streets of Hamilton, TX. She was picked up by animal control and brought to the Hamilton Pound. Attempts at finding her owner have failed, so we moved her to the Shelter in Hico, TX where it's cooler and she can get more human interaction.<br/><br/>Darla is an approximately 4 months old, 23.4 lbs., female, Belgian Malinois Mix puppy. We think she's mixed with Australian Cattle Dog, and probably a few other breeds. She's very smart and has great ears. She's likely to grow to be taller and end up weighing right around 60 lbs., but for now she still an active curious puppy.<br/><br/>Darla does well on leash and has figured out doggie doors. She rides great in vehicles, but you may have to give her a boost up. She's gotten along well with the other dogs she's met. However, we always recommend slow, proper introductions to any new dog. Darla is very curious and outgoing with people and enjoys being around a variety of humans. She hasn't met any children yet, but we think she'll be fine with them as long as they know how to properly interact with a new dog. Darla has barked at and tried to chase cats and will likely not do well with them.<br/><br/>Because Darla is a Malinois mix, she's going to need an active home that will keep her mind and body exercised. A fenced yard where she can run and play is a must for Darla. She's smart and should respond well to training. She's very sweet, loves to have her tummy rubbed, and likes toys to chew on.<br/><br/>Darla is up to date on vaccines, rabies, and bordatella. She's on preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworms and other intestinal parasites. She's not old enough to be spayed yet.<br/><br/>Basically, Darla is a fun-loving active pup, who just needs an active home to grow and thrive in. We work to rehabilitate and rehome unwanted cats and dogs in Stephenville and surrounding towns. We have recently expanded our scope to include Hamilton County, TX and are currently working with the City of Hamilton and the Hico Police Department to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound or the Hico Animal Shelter. <br/> Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.)'s mission is to sponsor low cost spay/neuter and wellness exams, provide community education and provide food and supplies to those in need. We also do our best to find loving homes for abandoned, neglected, or abused animals. Our animals are vaccinated and on preventatives.
