Darla would love to live, splash, and learn with you!<br/><br/>Darla's Story<br/><br/>Darla was found roaming on her own in Hamilton, TX, and taken in by animal control. When no owner came forward, she made the move to a Stephenville, TX foster home — where she gets tons of daily love and attention.<br/><br/>Breed & Personality<br/><br/>Darla is an approximately 4-month-old, 23 lb female Shepherd Mix (we suspect a blend of a few smart, athletic breeds!). She's got the absolute best radar ears and a sharp mind to match. We estimate shell mature into a handsome, leggy dog around 50 lbs, but right now, she's all active, curious puppy.<br/><br/>Fun Update: Darla has officially discovered water—and she absolutely loves it! Whether it's playing in the hose, splashing around, or exploring outdoor water features, she's ready for any wet-and-wild adventure.<br/><br/>Behavior & Household Needs<br/><br/>The Good Stuff: Smart as a whip! She does well on a leash, has already figured out doggie doors, and rides great in vehicles (though she still needs a little puppy boost to get up!).<br/><br/>People & Kids: She is super sweet, outgoing with people, and loves a good belly rub. While she hasn't met young kids yet, she should do great with children who know how to respectfully interact with a puppy.<br/><br/>Other Pets: Darla gets along well with other dogs (proper, slow introductions are always recommended!). However, she is very intrigued by cats and will bark or chase—so a cat-free home is best.<br/><br/>Activity Level: As a Shepherd mix, Darla needs an active, engaged home that will keep both her brain and body moving. A fenced yard where she can run, play, and burn off puppy energy is a must. She loves chew toys and will excel with positive-reinforcement training!<br/><br/>Health & Medical<br/><br/>Up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, Rabies, and Bordetella.<br/><br/>On monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks, heartworms, and parasites.<br/><br/>Note: She is currently too young to be spayed.<br/><br/>Ready to Adopt?<br/><br/>Darla is a fun-loving, eager-to-please pup who just needs an active family to help her thrive. We work to rehabilitate and rehome unwanted cats and dogs in Stephenville and surrounding towns. We have recently expanded our scope to include Hamilton County, TX and are currently working with the City of Hamilton and the Hico Police Department to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound or the Hico Animal Shelter. <br/><br/> Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.)'s mission is to sponsor low cost spay/neuter and wellness exams, provide community education and provide food and supplies to those in need. We also do our best to find loving homes for abandoned, neglected, or abused animals. Our animals are vaccinated and on preventatives.
