Darcie's Story

Darcie is a sweet natured Australian kelpie x Australian cattle dog around 5-6 months old. She is sweet-natured, but rambunctious. The nature of this breed is medium in size, known for their intelligence and stamina, and loyalty. They are the best, but don't do well with a sedentary lifestyle.

Darcie gets along great with other dogs.

She shows ZERO aggression regarding her food. I can pet her while she eats, and can even take her food away from her, and she just wags. Similarly, if my other dog tries to eat her food, she backs off and lets him.

She loves to chase the cats, but never actually DOES anything, once she catches up to them. When they all get tired, she lays down and sleeps with them, and they let her, so somewhere in there, the cats know she's not going to hurt them.
She is not destructive, inside or out.

She LOVES TOYS, and seems to know what things are toys, and what things are not. For example, she does not mess with shoes, socks, or other non-toy household items. She does not rip at, or chew on furniture, and has already learned to stay on the floor (i.e., OFF the couch, recliners, and human beds)! She does not dig in the yard either.

She rarely barks, even when my other dog does!
I'm calling her Darcie because apparently in Ireland, if they say someone "is Darcie," they are saying that person has dark hair . . .

To inquire, email sharon@blackjackrescue.org

She has an appt. for spay and vaccines, after which she can be adopted.
