Meet Daphne

Daphne is a 10 year old sled dog looking to retire from her role of leading teams. While a bit reserved at first, she tends to warm up rather quickly and is affectionate (without being obnoxious about it) once she gets to know you.

In general, Daphne has a calm disposition and is pretty laidback (at least by sled dog standards). She is just as smart as she is beautiful.

Daphne gets along well with calmer dogs. While she does well with children, she avoids them when possible so we are looking to place her in a home without younger kiddos. She's at the point in her life where she'd rather not deal with the excessive high energy and unpredictable squeals.

While technically a senior, Daphne is still active and will need daily walks and plenty of outdoor time.

Daphne does receive a daily thyroid med but she takes without issue and at $20 a month, it's not an overwhelming medical expense.

Daphne is currently being fostered by a staff member and has done fantastic with house training. She gets along great with the resident senior dogs and ignores the kitty. She crates beautifully if needed and also enjoys hoarding all the soft squishy toys she can find.

If you are looking for a gentle, yet proud, soul then look no further - Daphne is your gal!

Things To Consider Before You Adopt A Sled Dog:

- Our adoptable sleds dog are used to living in an outdoor, working environment. This means that they will need to be house trained and exposed to "house stimulus" like stairs, cars, vacuums, wood floors etc. Adopting an adult sled dog is similar to welcoming a puppy.?

- Our adoptable sled dogs range from medium to high energy. In general they require multiple walks daily and engaging toys when inside the home. A bored/under exercised ?sled dog is a destructive and anxious sled dog! ?

- Our adoptable sled dogs are trained to run and are therefore a high flight risk. We do require that they be on leash or within a fenced in yard at all times until proper recall training has been received.

- Our adoptable sled dogs have befriended many kitties in their new homes, that being said adopters are instructed to monitor all interactions with small animals as our four-leggers have limited exposure to them while with us and there is no telling how they may react.
