Dante's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. We are amazed that Dante somehow ended up in a shelter. He is healthy, happy, obviously well cared for, and totally loves people. Perhaps a little boisterous, but you just can't help but fall in love with him at once! Dante socializes with several dogs in his foster home and for his part behaves wonderfully. He may have too much energy for the older ones, which earns him a growl or a snap occasionally, but it doesn’t bother Dante and he just moves on. He loves people and kids, especially if their energy matches his. He's currently enjoying kids 6-18 years old. Dante is also cat friendly - again, maybe a bit much for the very senior kitty he lives with, but he backs off when she gives him a warning. He does not appear to have any prey drive but might bark at critters some until he gets bored. But wait... there's more! Dante is housebroken! He is also fully crate-trained: crates on command, eats and sleeps in his crate and can be crated for 6-10 hours with no accidents. Dante is a very high energy dog though so he will require a lot of exercise. Dante loves being outside! He’s curious and bold to explore new areas. Not a shy one at all! And although he’s pretty good on leash, he could certainly use some improvement. He loves toys and shares well with others so play is a good outlet. Dante is very food motivated and training would be great mental stimulation. When it comes to affection from his humans, Dante really likes being petted, talked to, and will climb up for hugs and snugs! He’s never shown any jealousy however to the other dogs. We'd really like Dante to have a fenced yard and another dog. He is heartworm negative and we expect his arrival in Florida to be on September 9th.
