Special Needs? Carolina Poodle Rescue is pleased to work with breeders who are eager to have their dogs find a home. When our site mentions breeder release, we want adopters and supporters to know that this dog will require extra care transitioning into your home. Please know this is a rehabilitation process for the dog. It is a commitment to showing the dog how to be social, building trust, house training, and separation anxiety. Many people use these phrases to describe the rehabilitation process as watching a dog 'blooming' or 'coming out of their shell'. It is a highly rewarding process for you and the dog. We are here to help you support your commitment to your dog.

What kind of home would be best for me? Since she was a breeder release, beautiful Damaris needs a home where her human will be her constant companion and teacher. Her adopter needs the following in abundance - patience, love understanding, compassion, forgiveness, calmness, and empathy. Damaris requires a home with another large, confident dog. She needs to be in a home without children because sudden noises and movements frighten her. Damaris has been tested with cats and small dogs and was curious about both, but showed no issues toward them in a meet and greet environment.

What is my personality like? Damaris is a very gentle girl, but she is very wary of everything. As a breeder release nearly every experience is brand new to her, from walking on grass or walking on a leash, to interacting with loving people.

Everything is new to this timid, shy girl. As a breeder release she is fearful of everything. Damaris needs a kind, patient, and loving adopter to help her develop. She doesn't know any commands or cues. She walks on a leash but will lag. Don't pull on her leash, patiently urge her along. A walk a day would encourage her to slowly explore and become more comfortable with the world around her. Her adopter will help her develop a sense of security in her new home and in the world. Remember, EVERYTHING is new and, unfortunately, frightening to Damaris. Her wonderful adopter must understand this and know that it will be a long but extremely rewarding process that will see Damaris blossom into your wonderful lifelong companion. The adopter who opens their heart to this lovely lady is all but assured an immensely rewarding experience.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Damaris is shy, timid, and fearful but will warm up to you especially if you give her chin scratches and ear rubs. They send her into a blissful state. You'll see her eyes slowly close, and you'd swear she was falling asleep right in from to your eyes.

Other tips and tidbits: Lastly, our vet estimates her birthday to be 1/5/2022.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
