DAKOTA's Story

Meet Dakota! This handsome, scruffy guy is a master of sniffy walks, and would make a good buddy for anyone who likes to explore the great outdoors. He's on the shyer side of life, and will probably do best in a lower-traffic home without a lot of people coming and going--once he's warmed up to his people, he's a silly and very sweet guy, but Dakota often needs time to feel comfortable with new people petting him, so he'd love an adopter who can help be his advocate while he's out in the world! Dakota briefly lived with a cat in his previous home, and may be able to live with a cat with separation to start. He doesn't have experience living with another dog, but could potentially go home with a well-matched, mellow dog companion. Dakota doesn't like sharing his food, so adopters should be ready to manage their environment to help him out when around other animals in the home! Dakota has been through a few transitions recently, and may need a gentle start, but once he feels secure, he'll reward you with endless love and loyalty!
