Daisy's Story

Meet Daisy!

Born on September 23, 2023, this adorable 10-pound Yorkshire Terrier is looking for a very specific home that understands her needs. Daisy was recently returned to our rescue because she is reactive while out on walks, barking and lunging at other dogs, people, and bicycles as they pass by. She can also become reactive in the car if strangers approach the vehicle. Because of this, a physical fenced yard is required (a privacy fence is preferred) so she can safely enjoy time outdoors without the stress of frequent encounters.

Daisy is a sweet, affectionate little girl who forms strong bonds with her people. She loves to tag along on errands, curl up beside you for movie nights, and claim her favorite spot under the blankets in bed. Once she knows and trusts you, she is a loyal companion who simply wants to be close to her family.

While Daisy is not aggressive in the home, she does require a family that is willing to manage and work through her reactivity using positive reinforcement and appropriate training techniques. She is not a dog who will enjoy busy neighborhood walks or frequent trips to crowded public places, and her future family should be prepared to advocate for her and avoid situations that set her up to fail.

In her foster home, Daisy has demonstrated excellent house manners and is crate trained, although she'd much rather be snuggled beside her favorite humans. She has done well living with other respectful dogs but generally prefers to keep to herself and doesn't enjoy sharing attention, so she may be happiest as an only dog. She has also previously lived peacefully with cats. Due to her small size, she would do best with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a tiny dog.

Like many Yorkshire Terriers, Daisy will require routine professional grooming throughout her life. Grooming and veterinary visits can be stressful for her, and she benefits from a patient, compassionate approach. She may require anti-anxiety medication or mild sedation during these appointments to help make the experience less overwhelming. With an understanding groomer, a supportive veterinary team, and a family committed to helping her succeed, she has shown these necessary appointments can be completed safely.

Daisy isn't the right fit for every family, and that's okay. She's looking for a home that appreciates her for who she is, understands her challenges, and is willing to provide the structure and management she needs to feel secure. In return, she'll reward her people with unwavering loyalty, endless cuddles, and the kind of devotion only a little Yorkie can give. If you think you could be the family Daisy has been waiting for and you meet all the requirements, please consider completing an application.

Daisy is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Fecal tested and dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Spayed

ADOPTION FEE: $400

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
