Daffodil's Story

Basics
Dogs Name: Daffodil (aka Dillyweed, aka Baby D)
Age / Size: 11 years old, 30lbs
Rescued in the Southwest

Meet Daffodil!
Daffodil is the sweetest, most mellow girl, and she's been such a joy to have in our home. She's gentle, friendly, and so easygoing that she's adjusted to apartment and city living without missing a beat, she's even mastered a revolving door! Her favorite move is putting her head on the couch and giving you a hopeful stare until you airlift her up for cuddles, since she can't quite manage the jump herself.

She adores people and would happily meet everyone she comes across, she's gentle with kids, lets them pet her, and is totally relaxed about having her paws, face, and even her eyes handled (she takes her eye drops like a champ). She's comfortable around other dogs, giving them a polite sniff before moving along, and with her calm, sweet nature we doubt she'd have any issues with cats either. She's quiet and content when left alone, and when guests come by she just meanders over for some sniffs and pets rather than making a fuss.

Daffodil thrives on routine and keeps things simple: a morning walk, breakfast with her meds, lots of cozy snoozing in sunny spots or cool floors, an afternoon stroll at her own leisurely pace, dinner, couch cuddles, and one last short walk before bed. She's potty trained, walks beautifully on a loose leash, and knows sit when there's a treat involved, she's food motivated and would benefit from some gentle, consistent training to build on her basic commands. She hasn't shown much interest in toys, but she loves a good dental or yak bone and an even better head scratch. Daffodil would do well as an only dog or alongside another easygoing pup, and she's a great fit for apartment living as long as there's an elevator, since stairs aren't her favorite. If you're looking for a low-maintenance, low-key companion who's just as happy snuggled on the couch as she is on a leisurely walk, Daffodil would make a wonderful addition to a calm or moderately active household, with kids or without.

*Daffodil is on meds for an under active thyroid, but this doesn't affect her well being and the condition is under control!*

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Daffodil, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt.truenorthrescue@gmail.com to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
