Daena's Story

Daena is a sweet, joyful, and unrelenting soul whose spirit has remained completely intact despite spending nearly five months in the shelter system. Through it all, she has held onto her love for people, her enthusiasm for other dogs, and her unwavering optimism.

Friendly with everyone she meets, Daena is a true social butterfly. She adores people, loves dogs, and is always eager to make new friends. Her excitement can sometimes be a little overwhelming, and she's still learning that not every dog appreciates an enthusiastic greeting complete with face-to-face kisses and endless affection. She's making progress with boundaries and would benefit from continued manners training to help channel her social energy.

This dog is incredibly smart—even by Husky standards—and highly food motivated, which makes her a great candidate for ongoing training. She recently impressed the veterinary staff with her calm demeanor, happily allowing nail trimming with a Dremel and cooperating with other procedures. She also rides beautifully in the car and takes treats with a wonderfully gentle mouth.

Playful and affectionate, Daena thrives around other dogs and would love an active canine companion. She has the potential to become an excellent helper dog and playmate for the right canine friend. She does currently struggle with resource guarding around food and toys when other dogs are involved, so her future family should be committed to continuing the work she's already started in that area.

Daena is completely vetted, weighs at a petite 40 pounds and is about 3 years old. altogether she's the complete package.
