Cuyo's Story

I am 3 years old.

Meet Cuyo! This big guy is truly just a baby in a strong, sturdy body. Out in the yard, he’s happy to take his time doing a relaxed sniff lap, taking care of his business, and then heading right back to his handler. He’s not one to be constantly on the go. Cuyo much prefers hanging out with his people, soaking up the sunshine, and enjoying all the affection you’re willing to give. If you’re looking for a couch buddy to binge your favorite shows and share some snacks with, Cuyo is your guy… just be prepared, you might need a bigger couch!

Cuyo has lived successfully with children of all ages and recently did a great job meeting a group of kids at a shelter event. He hasn’t had much experience with other dogs prior to coming into the shelter and has since developed some reactivity, which can be a challenge given his size and strength. Because of this, adopters should be prepared to continue working on his leash skills and be able to confidently manage him on walks. His previous owner also noted some prey drive with smaller animals, so he’ll do best in a home without cats or small pets. Any resident dogs should meet Cuyo prior to adoption, and he will need a proper decompression period followed by very slow, gradual introductions to set him up for success. Intake Reason: Owner Surrender due to moving/ pet restrictions

Health Notes: Cuyo arrived with moderate dental disease that may need veterinary follow-up within the next 6 months to a year.

This pet is up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Adoption hours are 12-5pm daily (arrive by 4:30) at 13800 Manor Road in Baldwin. Head to our ‘Adoption Resources’ tab for more information on our adoption process, fees and exceptions!
