Curly's Story

Meet Curly!

Curly is a 9-pound, approximately 2-year-old pup who recently arrived in NYC from Alabama. He came from a hoarding situation alongside Moe and Larry, so very little is known about his life before rescue or how much positive interaction he's had with people.

Since arriving on May 30th, Curly has shown us that he's going to be a bit of a long-haul dog—and that's okay. The world is still a very scary place for him, and he's taking everything at his own pace. He currently spends much of his time relaxing in his crate or tucked away in a safe spot, quietly observing the world around him. He isn't comfortable being handled yet and tends to shy away from human touch.

That said, Curly has already made some huge strides in a short amount of time. He's started venturing out to greet his foster mom when she enters the room and is slowly seeking comfort from the resident dog. Every day, we're seeing small but meaningful signs that he's beginning to feel safe.

At this time, Curly has not started going outside and is using potty pads indoors. His future adopter should be prepared for a dog who is still very much learning how to be a pet. He is not yet the type of dog who wants walks, cuddles, or lots of hands-on interaction—but we truly believe those things may come with time, patience, and a supportive environment.

Because Curly takes so much comfort from other animals, we are only considering homes with one or more friendly resident pets. Most importantly, he needs an adopter who understands that progress won't happen overnight and who is willing to celebrate the little victories along the way.

Curly may not be ready to be your shadow today, but for the right person, helping him discover that humans can be trusted will be an incredibly rewarding journey. We're confident there's a sweet little dog hiding beneath his fears—we just need someone willing to give him the time he deserves.

Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Curly, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
