CupCake's Story
Cupcake, also lovingly known as Miss Cakes, has been a part of our lives for a few months now. She is 6 years old. She has squirmed and huffed her way into our hearts. Unfortunately, life has a new direction in mind for us and it is with an incredible amount of sadness that we're looking to find her a new foster or forever home.

Do not let the lack of mobile back legs fool you, this girl is a track star. I am not too ashamed to admit that she has outrun me before. The cause of her lower end paralysis is unclear, and she does require expression of her bladder as well as diapers to keep clean and UTI-free. We (Sharyl and Josiah) are happy to help guide her new housemates on the best ways we've found to do this. It sounds daunting, but give it a week and you will be a pro.

She has intermittent tummy trouble, which comes with paralysis territory, and is on supplements. We can provide what we have left and give pointers on where to find the best deals. These are only supplements and not prescribed medications!

If it sounds like a lot, it's because the beginnings of caring for a dog with paralysis can be! We were terrified when we first adopted our shih tzu with grade V IVDD. What we didn't expect was how quickly we would find ourselves comfortable with their care, and confident in our ability to give them a relatively normal doggy life despite the challenges they face. That's why, schedules permitting, we would be willing to spend time with you to learn more about her care.

Cupcake is cuddly, and funny, and loves a squeaky ball. She will nuzzle up to you at any moment and paw gently at your leg when she wants attention. She does have a chillaxed side and loves a fuzzy dog bed or blanket. She also has teeth reminiscent of a pirana and will almost certainly need tougher toys. She can *almost???* play fetch (when she's got her wheels on, if she really wants to). She has one brown eye and one blue eye. She also has RBF real bad hahaha we promise though, she is nothing but a bundle of sweetness.

We have loved the time we have shared with Miss Cakes and are terribly sad to see her go. We want to be fully transparent regarding the care she needs as we want her to be in a safe and caring environment, so if there are any questions you have and are considering fostering or adopting this chunky nugget, do not hesitate to reach out to Jenny.
