Crumb's Story

Sweet little Crumb found himself in an overcrowded shelter with his sister, Crouton. They came from a "home" that we were told was neglectful, and there were many, many dogs there who were pretty much on their own running free in the neighborhood.

Crumb is estimated at about 2-3 years old, weighs 11 lbs, and is very sweet and loves to snuggle!

However, he is a complicated little guy! At first we wanted to keep Crumb and Crouton together because they definitely love each other and have been together all their lives. But as time went on we learned that they do occasionally show some negative behaviors when together. Crumb can be very protective of Crouton, and anyone other than their foster mom started to be seen as a threat that he felt he had to take care of! When together in public, they also don't want any other dogs to come near. However, at home with foster doggy siblings they were fine.

So, we are currently doing an experiment, a trial separation, to see if they can be happy apart. They are adjusting well, especially Crouton who has 2 other dogs in her foster home, while Crumb is in a home with no other dogs.

We feel that a compatible dog sibling could be all Crumb needs to give him a fun playmate and make him happy!

Because he is a small boy, if there are kids in the home they must be old enough to respect him. We are aware that Crumb has had a negative experience with young children chasing after him with sticks, and he understandably did not react well to that! But, all we have seen at our events is that he has been fine with kind children who are gentle with him. We would like to keep it that way, and honestly Crumb looks like an adorable little stuffed animals so we need to be sure any kids in the home can understand that he is not! ;)

We think that the absolute perfect home for Crumb would be a single woman without kids, a small to medium, friendly and playful dog, and a fenced yard to run around in! BUT.. if you are drawn to him and would like to find out if he could become a part of your family, please copy and paste the link below into your browser to submit an application, and we'll be in touch!

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GARP/Dog

Please also follow us on Facebook to keep up with all our Pals, upcoming events, and announcements!

https://www.facebook.com/share/ahFTecYpLt3bLPkf/?mibextid=qi2Omg

Note: we are still willing to consider a home with Crouton and Crumb together, but it will have to be a very special home. They truly are adorable together, but the issues that occasionally arise are not something most adopters would want to have to deal with. For the two, a single woman with no kids, no other pets could be ideal!

Rescue Pals, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in one of our Pals! Our adoption fees for dogs are: Puppies up to 1 Year Old : $400 Adult Dogs 1 - 9 Years : $350 Senior Dogs 10 - 12 Years : $300 Super Senior Dogs 12 + Years : $150 Kittens up to 1 Year Old : $125 Adult Cats 1 - 12 Years : $95 Senior Cats 12 + Years : $75 If multiple cats/kittens are adopted to the same home at the same time, each kitty after the first (youngest) will have their fee reduced by $25. All dogs and cats are or will be: spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Here is our adoption process: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Applicants must be ready for a new pet to come home immediately after the entire adoption process is complete and approved. We are not able to hold animals if you have travel coming up, etc., so please be prepared to make arrangements for your new pet if that is the case. After submitting an application, your information will be reviewed and a vet check will be done for your current and past pets (going back 5 years). Your pets should be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Veterinary medical exceptions will be taken into consideration for any of those items. If you and the pet you are applying for seem like a great fit, a member of our adoption team will contact you for a telephone interview. After that, a home check will be done, and then a meet and greet (maybe at the same time!). If all is well and everyone agrees that this is the right new family member for you, the adoption can be finalized at that time! Please note that we are an all-volunteer organization, and in some cases when multiple applications come in for the same pet we may not be able to respond to each applicant. If a pet no longer appears on Petfinder, it means he or she has been adopted. Applying for a pet does not place that animal on hold, or guarantee approval. Our goal is to make the very best match that will last a lifetime for the pet, so we hope everyone can understand and appreciate that. If your application is approved through 1st review and vet check, but we don't feel that the pet you're interested in is the right fit, we may suggest another who we feel would be a better fit for your lifestyle/what you're looking for. Thank you so much again for your interest in adopting a Pal, and helping us save lives!
