Croydon's Story

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization.

Meet Croydon!

Available Pending Medical Clearance

This adorable 8-year-old boy is an eternal pug puppy with energy to spare! Croydon loves long walks (about 2 miles a day!), and he gets excited about everything—food, toys, car rides, and meeting new friends. He also has that classic pug snuggle gene and happily curls right up next to you—or on top of you—whenever he gets the chance.

Croyden’s journey started as a stray in a Los Angeles shelter before making his way to Pug Nation, where he was cared for and neutered. From there, he hopped aboard the “Pumba Bus” (think Venga Bus—but full of pugs!) and headed to his foster home here in New England.

Now he’s living the good life with toys, treats, lots of love, and two small female dog siblings. He gets along great with them—though they wish he’d calm down a bit at mealtime! Luckily, his sweet cuddles make up for his enthusiasm.

Personality & Behavior

Friendly, social, and loves meeting people
Excitable greeter—he may jump out of enthusiasm (we’re working on it!)
Not aggressive at all—more like: “Hi! Have we met? I’m Croydon!”
Smart and very food motivated, which makes training easier
Thrives on attention but is happy to share it—he’s not an attention hog!

Home Life

House trained (initial marking has significantly improved post-neuter)
Crate trained and does well in the car (once he settles in)
Does well with dog-savvy children age 8+
Not yet tested with cats
Would do best with another small dog—or as an only dog with plenty of attention

‍âTM‚ï ̧ Needs

Croydon is happiest when he’s active and engaged. His ideal home will provide:

Daily exercise (at least two good walks per day)
Continued work on leash manners and polite greetings
Patience while he adjusts to a new home and routine
Regular veterinary care, including preventatives

A fenced yard is preferred but not required.

From His Foster Mom

“Croydon is a busy, happy boy who wants to be part of everything you do. When he sees his food bowl or harness, he gets SO excited—spinning, jumping, just full of joy. He clearly knew a loving home at some point—he uses doggy stairs, enjoys cozy beds and couches, and isn’t afraid of people or pets. He gives kisses on request and is incredibly sweet—polite, respectful, but also full of life.”

Health

Croydon was just neutered and had a dental in early April, so his hormones are still settling. While the shelter listed him at 8 years old, the vet felt he might be closer to 5 or 6. Bonus! He’s doing wonderful as he adjusts to home life again and has a routine vet check scheduled soon, we are not anticipating any issues with Croydon.

Adoption Details

Adoption Fee: $650
($400 based on age + $250 domestic travel fee)

Croydon is a lover, not a fighter, and he’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of cuddles to his forever home.

Could that home be yours?

If you are interested in adopting, your home situation MUST meet this criteria:

A vet reference check, dog walker check (if applicable), landlord check (if applicable), a phone interview and home visit will be conducted prior to approval. If you think a pug is right for your family and you meet the criteria, please apply to adopt on our website at www.pugrescueofnewengland.org.

BE SURE TO REFERENCE THE SPECIFIC PUG!

Our mission is simple: we find homes for abandoned and surrendered pugs in New England. Our pugs will be UTD on shots and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. You must be a resident of the New England states. Due to a change in state regulations, we are no longer adopting outside of New England.

PRoNE is supported by adoption fees, donations and funds raised through auctions and events. Adoption fees range from $200-$1,000 which is based on age of the dog. Effective in January 2023, we have imposed a $150 Spay/Neuter Fee (if required) and a $500 Transportation Fee (For dogs requiring air/cargo travel). Pug Mixes will be discounted by $100 off the fee for their age range. Pairs and Triples will be discounted by $50 per dog.

< 1 year old = $1000
1-2 years old= $750
3-5 years old= $600
6-7 years old= $500
8-10 years old= $400
11-12 years old= $300
Over 12 = $200
$150.00 Spay/Neuter Fee (if the dog requires it)
$500.00 Transportation Fee (for dogs requiring air/cargo travel)

Adoption FAQs:
pugrescueofnewengland.org/adopt/adoption-faqs

Adoption App: pugrescueofnewengland.org/adopt/adoption-application

Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PugRescueofNewEngland/
