Cricket's Story

Cricket came to us from local animal care and control. She is a very special girl looking for a home that can provide the care she needs, as she has Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). We have spent several months monitoring her health and learning more about her condition so we could best support her and future adopters. Cricket is currently classified as Stage 2 CKD, and while she will require ongoing management and regular veterinary care, she is doing well and is ready to find a loving home.

Cricket is currently managed with once-daily fluids and a prescription kidney diet, both of which help support her kidney function and overall well-being. To ensure she continues to thrive, her adopter should plan for routine veterinary monitoring, including bloodwork every 36 months to check her kidney values and track the progression of her CKD. The exact schedule may depend on how stable her condition remains. Caring for Cricket is both a financial and day-to-day commitment, so we ask that potential adopters carefully consider whether they are able to provide the ongoing care she needs.

Cricket is available for adoption in or within 3 hours of Chicago. She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, had a dental, microchipped, heartworm negative and has had repeat bloodwork since being in our care. If you have any questions prior to applying please email us at adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. We do share information regarding personality and routine during our matching process so please note that we included medical information here only to ensure that potential adopters are prepared.
