Cowboy and Max's Story
Meet Max and Cowboy!!

Max and Cowboy are an eight-year-old bonded littermate pair looking for a forever home together. These handsome boys are neutered, up to date on vaccines, on preventatives, and each weighs around 53 pounds. Both have adorable nubs and are house-trained. Cowboy is a blue merle and is more the leader, and Max is a black-tri..

Their previous owner loved them very much, but after the loss of his wife, life became difficult and caring for the boys became overwhelming. Wanting what was best for them, he made the difficult decision to give them the chance for a happier future.

Both Max and Cowboy are crate trained and previously stayed in a dog room with access to the outdoors, where they spent time outside several times a day. They walk nicely on leash, ride well in the car, are good with other dogs and get along fine with cats. They have not been around small children.

Cowboy, the blue merle, is the sweet and cuddly one. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people but warms up quickly and soon becomes a loving companion who enjoys affection. He takes treats gently and is happy to be petted anywhere. Cowboy isn't much of a toy enthusiast and tends to make quick work of stuffed animals. He also has an eye condition called episcleritis in his right eye, which is being successfully managed by an ophthalmologist. He receives cyclosporine eye drops twice daily and is currently stable. He does receive trazodone for eye appointments because prolonged exams make him a little wiggly.

Max, the tri-color boy, is described as the smart and outgoing one. If a stranger walks up, Max is ready to say hello immediately and collect all the pets he can get. He is enthusiastic, curious, and may try to jump up for a face lick or two. Like Cowboy, he takes treats gently and enjoys affection everywhere. Max absolutely loves balls and would happily play fetch until your arm gives out. He proudly carries his favorite ball everywhere he goes. Stuffed toys also don't tend to survive long around him!

The ideal home for Max and Cowboy would be a single-family home with a fenced yard where they can enjoy plenty of exercise and time together. Their new family should be willing to continue working with them, as these boys are super smart and will flourish with ongoing training and guidance. Overall, these boys are friendly, loving companions who are comfortable with people, other dogs, and cats.

If you're looking for double the love, double the loyalty, and two best friends who are ready to begin their next chapter together, Max and Cowboy may be the perfect pair for you.

If you are an approved adopter, please reach out to your volunteer.
Not approved yet, simply apply through our website below.

https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/
