Cousin's Story
For anyone who watches The Bear, yes, that's where the name comes from. No, he doesn't yell "CHEF!" but he does have main character energy.)

Cousin was a stray with no name and no one looking for him when animal control picked him up in Palmdale. Rough start. He landed in the shelter's medical ward with bad swelling below the right side of his muzzle, a firm mass, and what looked like a puncture wound right next to it. Not exactly the glow up montage he deserved.

A foster stepped up for him, so we pulled him straight from Palmdale Animal Shelter and got him right to the vet. The vet thinks the puncture wound was from a dog bite that never got treated, which turned into the abscess and the mass. He's since been neutered, and the mass was biopsied to rule out anything more serious than an untreated infection.

He's about 3 years old, all golden retriever energy, zero golden retriever paperwork. Just a big, sweet, fun dog who is clearly ready for his redemption arc. He's about 90% house trained, which honestly is a better completion rate than most of us have on our own goals.

Cousin has been through it and he is still out here vibing like the world owes him nothing but belly rubs. Someone give this guy his happy ending.

Real Good Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Los Angeles, CA.
Learn more at www.realgood.dog
