Cotton's Story
Cotton's engaging and sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. She is such a wonderful being. We think she represents the best qualities of both the Dachshund and Beagle breeds.

At just about 18 months old and 18 lbs, Cotton is the perfect size for neighborhood strolls (once comfortable in her environment), long walks in the Colorado mountains, car rides to dog-friendly destinations or fun backyard play. All would speak to Cotton's love of coming along and being with her family. She would love nothing more than to spend a day of play and walks followed by crashing on the couch for belly rubs and snuggles all night long.

Cotton initially may be shy and a bit frightened due to all the changes in her life. Once comfortable and past her fears, Cotton will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see sweet Cotton in a home that includes her in family time and activities. She's loving and as sweet as can be and will thrive in a dog-loving and very nurturing environment.

Cotton will be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with an adorable fluffy pup. Our sweet girl will initially be a bit frightened (after her experience at a scary shelter, she needs time and patience to come out of her shell) but some kind words, a loving hug and a yummy treat, and Cotton falls deeply in love.

Cotton doesn't require another dog to be happy. She loves her people dearly and if they're attentive and loving, this sweet and loyal girl will be fulfilled and very happy. If a gentle dog is already part of the family, that's great with Cotton as well. She enjoys her time spent in the company of a canine and that dog will become Cotton's best friend.

Cotton will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their dog. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely walk, a picnic in the park or a visit with family or friends. A car ride is also always great, especially if it leads to a fun, dog-loving spot. At day's end, a spot on or beside the bed all night will speak to the loving nature of this little dog.

Cotton has a lovely tri-colored coat that is currently shelter-sad. Once she is given the gift of sudsy baths and great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are perfect for longevity and coat care) her coat will become the cottony-soft hair that speaks of her good health.

Current research is very clear that the best diet we can provide for our pets is a fresh, human grade diet. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with our own dogs. It's one of the most important choices we make for our dogs great health and longevity.

Cotton's Texas rescuer had the following to say about our sweet girl:

Miss Cotton is a one of a kind special girl. She is so full of sweet energy and is as happy as can be once she's comfortable in her environment. Miss C had a difficult start in life and is now understanding that she's a wonderful being. I can observe her self-esteem growing stronger each day. It's truly a joy to see!

Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Cotton out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area.

Cotton will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to support our hopes for zero future growth in the canine population.

Cotton will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/16/2026. Adoption applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and cuddly best friend. An app can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Cotton, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
