Cortez's Story

Cortez is approximately 12 weeks old and… honestly, your guess on his breed is probably as good as ours. Carolina Mud Dog? Lab mix? Chihuahua? Tiny dinosaur? We truly have no clue — but whatever he is, he’s ridiculously cute. 😂

This little guy was found wandering around sick, covered in fleas, and having a rough start to life. Thankfully, those days are behind him now because Cortez is healed, thriving, and fully embracing his best puppy era.

Cortez LOVES other dogs, especially the giant ones. Even though he’s tiny, he’s convinced he’s one of the big boys and will happily rumble around with his foster brothers who outweigh him by about five times. It’s basically WrestleMania at his foster home daily.

While he enjoys playing and puppy antics, Cortez actually has a pretty chill personality overall. He’s not super high energy or constantly demanding attention. He’s perfectly content tossing toys around by himself, chewing on bones, or entertaining himself on the floor nearby while you do your thing. He likes being around his people without needing to be attached to them 24/7.

He enjoys morning snuggles on his own terms, loves toys and balls, and has the sweetest little independent streak. He’s goofy, resilient, easygoing, and full of personality without being overwhelming.

If you’re looking for a puppy who can play hard, entertain himself, hang with the big dogs, and still be a sweet little sidekick, Cortez may just be your guy. 🤎

---
To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html
