A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Special Needs? Cooper is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 6/9/22 Cooper had a dental polishing and had his ears professionally cleaned while under sedation.

Fence needed? Yes, Cooper is a big guy and needs to be safe in your yard with a tall fence.

What kind of home would be best for me? Cooper is learning how to become a dog as well as working on his socialization skills. He must have an adopter who will spend nearly all their time with him. This big guy is a sweet, gentle, kind, and caring dog. Cooper wants someone who will be there all the time, a family that is 100% dedicated to him and can provide him with constant training and positive reinforcement. Cooper is an inquisitive yet cautious guy when it comes to new people and new things. He walks well on a leash, but a bit of refresher training won't hurt. Cooper will need training on basic commands such as sit, stay, come, down, etc. He does well in a car and enjoys the ride. Cooper has interacted well with children here and a home with kids that will play ball with him would help him come out of his shell. Please remember though, getting to this stage may take some time as Cooper will need time to adjust to his new surroundings and family members. Cooper needs to be in a house that has a fence in the yard that is at least four (4) feet tall if not taller. The taller the better.

What is my personality like? Cooper is extremely cautious about all new things, including people. He enjoys playing with other dogs. Cooper enjoys playing ball with people he has become comfortable with. Please remember Cooper is a cautious guy and it will take longer for him to develop than most dogs. Cooper needs a lot of patience, love, and time to develop into a great dog and your life-long companion.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Cooper is always inquisitive but cautious when it comes to new people and things. He will always take time to ensure he will be safe before engaging with new people. He is extremely shy and standoffish at first, but once he gets to know you, he will follow you around and wait at every door for you because, to him, you are HIS person. We are certain Cooper will become a fantastic friend for the adopter who is willing to spend the time developing him into the wonderful dog he is continually striving to be.

Other tips and tidbits: We are estimating Cooper's birthday to be 08/28/16. The breeder originally told us a much older birthdate for Cooper, after spending as much time with Cooper, we are all in agreement that Cooper is much younger than we were told. Based on teeth and eye condition our vet agrees.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
