Cooper Lhasa Apso Mix Westfield, NY

Please read about Cooper before applying. Cooper is a 3 year old Lhasa Apso. He was adopted from NCCR two years ago after his original owner became ill and was no longer able to care for him. He had a very difficult time adjusting to the loss of his owner. It was apparent that he hadn't been socialized with people outside his home and was very unsure and shy with new people. He still is particular about getting to know humans and it's understandable because humans have let him down again. His adopter had reported how they were getting along throughout the first year. But last week we received a call that he had been left at another shelter because a new cat in the household and he did not get along although he had been living with another cat without any issues that we are aware of. He had virtually shut down in that other shelter.

It is going to take just the right person; someone who takes the time to get to know him and who has the time and patience to work with him as he can be a bit unpredictable when he is not comfortable with his surroundings. It will need to be a quieter household without a lot of visitors.

Cooper likes car rides, walks and playing with toys. Cooper is house trained, comes when called knows sit and stay at command.

Cooper is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $190.00. (cash or check only, we are unable to accept credit cards)

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
