Cookie's Story

Cookie is a 13-year-old little lady who weighs just over 10lbs. This gentle soul is as soft and comforting as her name suggests and once you meet her, it’s hard not to fall in love.

Cookie has an easygoing, “nothing phases me” personality. She adores everyone she meets and gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. She’s quiet (you’ll rarely hear a bark), sleeps peacefully through the night in her bed, and relaxes calmly in her x-pen when you’re out. She loves being outside and enjoys simply being near her people, though she’s perfectly content when left alone.

Cookie is a well-mannered travel companion. She's great in the car, happily buckled into her seat, and always on her best behavior wherever she goes. While she’s learning to walk on a leash, Cookie prefers the VIP treatment: a stroller ride or snuggled up in a chest carrier (her favorite!).

Cookie is currently working on her potty training. She will use potty pads, and often lets you know she needs to go if you look for her signature “tail up and zoomies” signal! Like many seniors, she may still have occasional accidents, but she’s trying her best.

Cookie also has some partial vision and hearing loss, but it doesn’t slow her down one bit. She navigates her world with quiet confidence and a whole lot of love.

Health-wise, Cookie has been through a lot and will require additional follow-up and care in her new home. She’s spayed and had mammary tumors removed, with two low-grade cancerous tumors that were fully excised. She has no heart murmur and is up to date on vaccines. Cookie does have ongoing skin and ear sensitivities, so she’ll need medicated baths about twice a week, an RX diet, and continued monitoring. She’s currently on Apoquel and eats a hydrolyzed diet to keep her skin flare-ups at bay.

To apply to adopt Cookie, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt
