Cookie's Story

The biographical information provided is correct to the best of our knowledge while the animal is in our care or includes what may have been provided by a previous owner. We strive to be honest and accurate, but animals can change their personalities and behavior when they settle into a new home. IDR+ makes no guarantees based on the information we observe and provide.

Cookie is a 3-year-old English Bulldog with everything people love (and expect!) from the breed—she’s stubborn, expressive, a little dramatic, and completely unforgettable. Beneath that classic bulldog attitude is a deeply loyal girl who forms strong bonds with “her people” and loves nothing more than being close to her trusted humans.

The best part? Cookie is housebroken and thrives on a consistent routine. Once she knows what to expect, she settles in beautifully and shows her affectionate, devoted side.

Cookie isn’t the kind of dog who will greet strangers with instant enthusiasm. She prefers to take her time, observe, and decide when she’s ready to trust—and that’s okay. Because of this, she’s looking for a home that will respect her boundaries and give her the patience she needs to feel safe. A fenced yard is required, as she’s not interested in socializing with neighbors or navigating lots of unfamiliar interactions.

In her foster home, Cookie coexists with other dogs, but true to her bulldog nature, she can be a bit bossy and opinionated. She’s not trying to be everyone’s best friend—she’s looking for her person.

Cookie would thrive in a home with prior bulldog experience—someone who understands the breed’s quirks, appreciates their strong personalities, and won’t try to change who she is. She needs a patient, confident adopter who will let her settle in at her own pace and love her for exactly what she is.

For the right person, Cookie will be an incredibly loyal, entertaining, and one-of-a-kind companion.

Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus's Adoption Policy
The first step in meeting our adoptable animals is the breed/species-specific application at www.ILDobeRescue.com. We do a vet check, landlord/association verification, and home visit to ensure a permanent placement for our wonderful animals. Thank you for considering rescue! The first step in meeting our adoptable animals is the specific application at www.ILDobeRescue.com for a Doberman, Plus dog (non-Dobe), or cat. Approved adopters are then directed to our foster homes.
