Cookie's Story

Age: 1-2 years Weight: 10lbs Cookie is (probably) a shitzu/poodle mix and the snuggliest little pup with the cutest lil underbite! Cookie was rescued in Texas with her brother Jared. She loves to give kisses and is very affectionate and loving. She is doing great walking on leash. Her energy level is fairly low and she is a great lap dog, however she is still coming out of her shell and has moments of puppy-like energy that come out during playtime. The city is still a bit overwhelming for her so she needs someone who is patient and can spend the time to get her adapted so she can gain confidence. She has done great with dogs on leash and hasn’t been reactive to skaters, cyclists, children etc. She would probably do well in a home with another pup or being the only one. Her crate training is going well and she hasn’t made a single peep so she seems very quiet. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy

First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
