Cookie's Story
* Courtesy post for one of our rescue partners *
Hi! This is Cookie, an adorable and sweet little lovebug! Cookie is approximately 4 years old and is believed to be a miniature schnauzer/toy poodle mix. She is a little overweight at 15lbs but it doesn’t slow her down!! Cookie was originally rescued from Arkansas and brought to Minnesota when she was 1 years old and lived with her elderly person and another small dog until her person unexpectedly died in 2021. Cookie has since lived with a family with two adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 3 cats until she can find her forever home. She was sad her person was gone but has adjusted very well to the new, busy household. Cookie has some GI issues that
make living in her current home with multiple other animals that eat a different food then her not
the best fit.
Cookie has never met a human she didn’t like! Men, women, kids (especially kids)...she loves them all!!! In public, she will greet people low to the ground so they will come up and pet herand rub her belly. In home, she will greet people vocally so they know she is there and to love her up! The moment they “say hi” and pet her, she will roll over for them to pet her belly! She
LIVES for belly rubs!
As most small dogs can be, Cookie can be vocal when excited. Unfamiliar animals in the yard, unexpected visitors, or dogs close by on a walk can get her to release her excited bark. A stern “hush” and she quiets right down. She will bark if another dog barks just for the sake of barking
but is rarely the one to start it on her own. She is very eager to please her humans and is coming along great at basic obedience. She has done really well with positive reinforcements!
She walks well on a leash, knows “sit”, “down”, and can howl on command (it’s quite cute)!
Cookie’s dog play style is channeled mostly from her miniature schnauzer side. She plays with the dogs and cats in the house but tends to seek out the more submissive cat to play with and

only plays with the big dog when he lays at her level to play. She likes to think she is tough but
they all know she is all talk lol. Someone who is experienced with this type of play style would suit her best. She loves to play “fetch”! Although sometimes she decides she doesn’t want to bring it back, she is always up for you throwing a toy and her getting to run after it.
Cookie would ABSOLUTELY be fine as an only animal!!! She would thrive on all the extra attention just for her!!! Someone to play with would be nice but is not necessary for her new
home. She would be completely comfortable having the human(s) all to herself! She is SUPER human oriented and wants nothing more than to be by your side. Whether it's cuddling on the
couch together or curled up by your feet, she just LOVES her humans. She is up for being a couch potato, hanging out on a golf cart, taking a stroll down the street, or venturing on hiking trails. She is a low energy dog but is up for whatever you are up for!!
She currently sleeps in a comfy dog bed in a doggy playpen area at night but would be fine sleeping in a bed or next to one’s bed. Her playpen is also where she goes when the humans are away from the home and she has done great! She has been left out now and then when the humans leave the house and she hasn’t gotten into anything she wasn’t supposed to.
Cookie’s GI issues seem to be food related. She is on a vet prescribed diet that seems to be doing the trick for her currently. Her downfall is she wants to eat everything else that comes in her path as far as food is concerned and that will cause her to have more frequent and loose
stools. Sometimes to the point of not making it to the door in time. Her current home has potty pads set up for her so she doesn’t potty in the house. This seems to be the best way to keep her from making a mess when she doesn’t mean to. Because of the GI issue, we don’t really know if Cookie is potty trained or not. She will let you know she has to go..but not always. Is it because she lives in a busy household or is it because of the GI issue? That part remains a mystery.
Due to Cookie’s possible ongoing GI issue, her rehoming fee is on the lower side because her new loving home will have to invest in her health care more than they would have to invest in a pup with no known medical concern. We don’t have a record showing any dental was done for
Cookie, so that may be another financial medical treatment the new home would want to invest in as well. We will answer any and all questions we can about her. She deserves the best fit
and best forever home!!!

Rehoming Fee: $250
Rabies expires in 04/2023
Yearly vaccinations not given as vet recommend to wait till GI was under control.
Contact Info: Kim at Kima916@yahoo.com
