Meet Cody, he is almost 2yrs old, neutered male. Cody was adopted as a young puppy from an Oregon Shelter by a wonderful woman, she was told he would only get 30lbs, she was moving up in age and didn't want a big powerful dog. As Cody grew it became clear he was not going to be under 30lbs and he was getting stronger everyday, his adopter repeatably called the shelter, letting them know she was having a hard time, he was pulling and she could barley walk him, they refereed her to their other location for training, this poor pup while at the training was attacked by another dog, Cody was still very young and it scared him, his adopter continued to reach out to the shelter, but now because he was scared of other dogs they wouldn't take him back. His adopter started sending him to boarding, which was great he could run off energy, but he started limping. Cody was a growing puppy and all the running and pulling on the leash, caused damage to both his rear ligaments (knees), aka Bilateral Luxating Patella's. His owner tried to keep him from pulling and jumping, but it was very difficult. His owner reached out to us desperate for help, while we were already bordering on capacity, we knew she needed help. Cody spent his 1st 8wks on kennel rest, going for short walks, he is now finsished his Adequan therapy and we have seen is significant improvement with both knees, at some point he may need surgery, but as long as his weight stays ideal and he is not running distances, he is fine. Cody is very sweet, does well on a leash, knows sit, stay, leave-it, he is kennel trained, he still is a little hesitant with other dogs, but he is not aggressive in anyway, he is submissive. he is absolutely the best dog, he loves humans, especially woman, he is gentle and has a great recall. He just needs a home with someone who is willing to love him and help him continue his patella journey.
