Welcome Cocoa to Lucky Dog Small Breed Rescue!! Cocoa is a 2yr old miniature dachshund weighing 10lbs. Cocoa recently arrived from our Texas shelter partner where she was abandoned after her owner no longer wanted to care for her. Cocoa is a very sweet but scared girl. She will need a quiet home where she can learn to trust again. She is allowing some petting and will approach for some but not all treats. She very much wants to trust and I believe she will get there with time and patience. She is allowing more and more approaching and allowing her foster mom to pick her up on occasion. Cocoa doesn’t seem too bothered by the cold and snow but has a very thin velvet like coat. She will go out to a fenced area on her own and return in. Her foster mom will be working with her on leash skills as Cocoa gets more confident. Cocoa is a sweet and special girl and will make a wonderful companion if given the love, time and patience. Cocoa is crate trained and does very well with other dogs, cats and kids that let her be. Letting her come to you instead of chasing or scaring her will be key to building her confidence. Cocoa is not a barker so any home, apartment or condo would be a perfect fit for her. Cocoa’s adoption fee includes her trip up from Texas, all vaccinations (dhlpp, rabies and bordetella), microchip with lifetime registration to the rescue, 4dx test heartworm and 3 tick borne illnesses, flea/tick prevention,spay, full health exam, health certificate, deworming, collar, harness, leash, 6 months of heartworm prevention and premium dog food to get her started in her new home. With all Lucky Dog Rescue adoptions the first two weeks are considered the trial period in which the dog can be returned for a full refund
