Meet Coco III
Meet Coco !
This little 4 year old beauty of 55 pounds will steal your heart once you look into those liquid brown eyes of hers. She might bark when you're coming up the walk, but once you're in the door, she's all hugs and kisses. Coco is friendly, outgoing and affectionate. She is not at all skittish when she meets new humans.
Coco's favorite activity is chasing small animals, and she's surprisingly agile, considering she has only 3 legs, due to an auto accident a few years back. Part of her impulse control training is learning to respect the resident cat. She is doing okay with that, although is not yet allowed to interact directly- only through a gate. Coco's foundational training is underway, and will need her humans to commit to an on-going training regimen. She's a quick and eager learner, but easily distracted when outside. Inside, she is calm and relaxed, always comes when called, sits when asked, gives great eye contact and is getting the hang of leave it.
Coco loves being with people, is housetrained, goes willingly into her crate, has no destructive tendencies and loves to go for car rides, although getting into the back of an SUV can be a challenge for her. She has more confidence going in one of the side doors. Going up stairs is said to be more challenging for Tripawds than going down; the only stairs she currently needs to contend with are two steps leading to my door. She has no issues with these.
She gets excited when I put my walking shoes on and has energy to spare on our hour long daily walks. She gets a bit overstimulated when we see other dogs closer than a hundred feet and we are working on some counter conditioning to make her more comfortable in those situations. Although the park is her favorite because of all the exciting smells, she is comfortable walking anywhere and not bothered by traffic, trucks, busses or other loud noises. Another crucial skill we are working on is walking on a loose leash without pulling.
Coco is a fabulous work in progress! She will make some very lucky human a faithful and loving companion.
