COCO - COURTESY LISTING's Story

Meet Coco!
Coco is a beautiful 2-year-old purebred Border Collie weighing approximately 35 pounds. This spayed female is everything people love about the breed—intelligent, energetic, affectionate, eager to please, and always ready for her next adventure.

Coco's world changed recently after the loss of her beloved dad. He purchased her as a puppy, and the two shared a special bond. Due to his disability, Coco had limited opportunities for socializing with other dogs and experiences beyond the backyard. Walks around the neighborhood, beside her dad in his scooter, were her main source of activity while he was still able to get out. To fill her time, pushing a basketball around became her favorite source of self entertainment and an effective outlet for her energy and herding instincts. In fact, she loves her basketball so much that she can be a little obsessed with it!

Despite her limited exposure to the world, Coco has proven to be incredibly smart, adaptable and people-loving dog. She is currently staying with a family friend and embracing lots of new experiences with enthusiasm. In just a couple of days, she has learned to fetch, walk politely on a leash, come when called, sit on command, and wait at doorways. Even better, she has discovered that swimming is absolutely the bomb!

Coco loves people and bonds quickly. Because she has had limited interaction with children though, a home with older, dog-savvy children—or adults only—would be the best fit.

Like many dogs who missed out on early socialization opportunities, Coco can be fearful around other dogs. She will thrive as an only dog, where she can soak up all the attention. However, with her intelligence, loving . personality, trainability, and the guidance of an experienced owner to help her build confidence, she could likely learn to really enjoy canine companionship.

Coco is looking for an active home that understands the Border Collie breed and can provide the exercise, mental stimulation, training, and companionship she craves. Given the opportunity, this bright, loving girl is guaranteed to blossom into an amazing partner for hiking, dog sports, swimming, training, and everyday adventures.

If you're searching for a loyal companion with endless potential, Coco is calling you. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick meds.

Coco is spending time with a friend of the owner and can be reached at lamblady.anne@gmail.com for more information.

ARCBCR courtesy lists dogs for individual owners, other rescues, and shelters wishing to place their Border Collies or Border Collie-mixes themselves.

These dogs are NOT in the ARCBCR program. ARCBCR does not provide any type of warranty and we rely on the current care givers to provide accurate information on all courtesy listed dogs.

Should any issues arise, ARCBCR will not be held responsible. Fees requested and policies may differ from ARCBCR.
