Coco's Story

Coco is ready for adoption!

This sweet boy is now fully vetted and ready for his forever home. He came to us from a Quebec shelter. His family surrendered him when they could no longer take care of Coco.

Coco is an adorable mini poodle. He is 9 years old and weighs about 10 pounds.

His foster family only have good things to report about Coco. He is well mannered in the home and loves to sit on the couch with his foster mom for a nice cuddle. He enjoys playing with soft toys. Dont let his age fool you! He loves to go for walks and is very active. He enjoys several walks every day. He walks nicely on leash and is excited to see other dogs. He meets other dogs in a nice way - with a sniff and no signs of aggression.

He is the only dog in his foster home so we are not able to say if he would be ok living with other dogs or cats.

Coco is in an adult home and we feel due to his age he is best suited to a home with older children.

He is quiet in the home but will bark to let you know when he has to go outside. He does well on a regular routine and goes out often for bathroom breaks. Coco enjoys spending time in their back yard but his preference is to do his bathroom business on a walk. He will bark when he hears someone outside or when someone comes to the door.

Cocos is used to having some around during the day. We feel he is best suited to a home where he will not be left alone for long hours every day.

He is crate trained and is comfortable sleeping in his crate at night. He needs to be brushed frequently and will require regular grooming.

Coco had dentistry and many rotten teeth were removed. For this reason it is important that his food and treats are soft.

Coco is up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped. He is negative for heart worm and tick borne diseases. He is on monthly prevention.

Coco travels nicely in the car.

Please see our website (www.adoptadogsavealife.com) if you are interested in adopting Coco.

Our adoption process includes an online application, a telephone interview, a virtual or in-person home visit, reference checks and a meeting with the dog.

An adoption fee of $500.00 applies.

Coco is in a foster home in Toronto, ON.

Meet Coco!

Coco arrived from a Quebec shelter a few weeks ago.
This sweet 9 year old boy was surrendered when his family could not care for him anymore. He is a beautiful 10 lb mini poodle.
The wonderful Freedom Drivers transported him to us. It was a long day in a crate for this poor boy - 11 hours - and he was so happy to arrive at his foster home.
He was extremely stressed being in a shelter environment and was terribly matted and caked in feces on his behind and belly. He was in desperate need of a bath and groom and we are so unbelievably thankful to the Rexdale Animal Hospital who got him in with an hours notice to get him bathed and groomed.
While he was there he had bloodwork and the staff identified that he has a bad UTI. His mouth was an absolute mess with teeth missing and rotten molars. He has been treated for his UTI and had dentistry last week. He is recovering well after more than 20 extractions. We plan to do his neuter surgery later in July. Once he is fully recovered he will be ready for adoption.
Thank you to our new foster home for welcoming Coco. We could not help this boy without them stepping up to take him in.

Watch this page for updates on Coco.

For more information about our rescue and adoption process check out our website - www.adoptadogsavealife.com or feel free to give us a call at 416-787-3862.
