Coco's Story

Coco has come such a long way since arriving at the shelter. When she first came in, she was nervous, scared and unsure of nearly everything around her. With plenty of patience and encouragement from staff and volunteers, she has slowly started to realize that the world isn't such a scary place after all.

She still needs a little extra time to get comfortable in new situations, but she works through them with a good attitude and a wagging tail. Once she settles in, her happy and affectionate personality starts to come out. She enjoys attention, loves being around people and has become much more willing to explore new places and try new things.

Coco is even attending training class and has already made a few friends! She loves other dogs and seems to gain confidence from having them around. She hasn't shown much interest in cats while she has been here. We'll have videos from her training adventures to share soon!

Coco is a one-year-old Beagle/Jack Russell mix. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She will need a patient family willing to give her time to adjust, but she has already shown us how much progress she can make when someone believes in her.
If interested in adopting, please click the link below to fill out an application:
www.bellwetherharbor.org/adoptions/application-for-adoption/

Bellwether Harbor's Adoption Policy
Bellwether Harbor does not do same day adoptions. Please keep in mind multiple visits to the shelter may be required. This number is determined various factors including the potential adopter’s experience and the training level/potential behavior issues of the animal. If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat, please fill out an application on the shelter website. After the application has been received, the Adoption Coordinator will conduct a landlord check and vet check (where applicable). If approved, applicants are contacted for a phone interview, after which an appointment may be set up to meet the animal. Please note: Applying for an animal does not guarantee adoption of said animal. Adoptions are approved based on a variety of factors. We do our best to match animals with the best homes, not the first homes. It is possible that adoption of a specific animal will be denied even if the application is approved. For more information on the adoption process, please visit http://www.bellwetherharbor.org/adoptions/the-process/
