Coco's Story

Coco and her siblings were lucky - their pregnant mum wandered onto a property on the outskirts of Puerto Vallarta, where she captured the heart of a local rescuer. Coco is two years old, weighs 19lbs and is currently in foster in Nanaimo, BC. She is a timid girl who needs to go very slow with people and likes to take her time to assess if it’s safe from a distance. She spent her early life with limited exposure to the world, so she’d like a quiet non-urban home. Coco has lived with dogs and cats and goes slowly meeting new dogs but eventually enjoys playing. Her foster mum has enjoyed watching her come out of her shell and seeking play from the other dogs in the home. Coco will want the comfort of another dog in the home to help her feel happy and safe and would also love a yard. Coco is housetrained, healthy and vaccinated. Coco is gentle but would prefer a home without kids – they sure move fast and with a lot of noise! If you’d like to apply, please email us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and let us know a bit about how this might be a match.

PVCA Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our sister organization, the SPCA Puerto Vallarta, has a sanctuary, staff, trainer and medical team who work with the dogs and cats until they are deemed "adoptable". Once they pass their health exams, which include blood tests which certify they are able to cross borders, they are transported to Canada and/or the United States and enter foster or permanent homes. All our animals come sterilized, and fully vaccinated and dewormed. Our organization relies on the caring volunteers who open their homes and foster the animals until they are adopted. We do not have a sanctuary or shelter in Canada or the United States. Visits must be arranged and we prefer an adoption application to be filled out and approved before visitation.

Our Mission
We are a committed group of volunteers who are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of neglected, abused, and abandoned animals. Primarily, all of our rescued animals come from the streets of Mexico.
