Hi! I’m Clancy and I am a fun little guy with a big personality. I have great leash skills and house manners. I am a medium energy guy not lazy but not hyper. I know a few commands so they say I’m a pretty smart guy too! I am very observant of what’s going on around me.
I am a small guy though and sometimes I like to think the lap I am in belongs to me and me alone. I do give a warning and this warning is best met with my person removing me from their lap and reclaiming it as their own space. I quickly figure out that I don’t own that lap.
It is best if my adopter is dog savvy and I need a home without young children. I have a bite on record however, the knowledgeable people at ODHS can give you the tools and techniques you need to minimize the chance that happens again. I love my people so much and in time with proper training and responses to my guarding of a lap, I will learn a better way of showing my affection. What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there’s official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance.

Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). Adoption donations are to be made via cash, check, and credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards.

Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption.

We typically have adoption events on Wednesday 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm and, Saturday noon to 4pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process.

Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
