Chunky's Story

Chunky<br/><br/>Meet Chunky, a sweet, gentle, affectionate, and easygoing one-year-old Xoloitzcuintli who weighs just under ten pounds! He's moderate energy — happy to entertain himself, but he truly lights up with a good snuggle.<br/><br/>Chunky settled into his foster home quickly, playing with the resident dog within half a day. He's friendly and affectionate with people, loves eye contact, and gently places his paw on you for more scratches. He's pee pad trained, well-behaved when left alone, and knows how to give paw. He's still building leash confidence, especially in rain.<br/><br/>His days are full of napping, snuggling, burrowing in blankets, and playing with his favorite donut toy. As a Xolo, he has very little hair and doesn't shed at all!<br/><br/>Chunky would do best with an adopter looking for a devoted snuggle buddy, ideally someone home often. He'd do well as an only dog or with another pup, and he's a great fit for apartment living.<br/><br/>**What his foster says about him:**<br/>"Chunky is my sixth foster and by far the easiest. He is a genuinely special dog: gentle, polite, and deeply affectionate. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal snuggle companion, Chunky is your dog."<br/><br/>**INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?**<br/>To adopt apply on our website [www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt](https://www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt) and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.<br/><br/>PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.<br/><br/>Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
