Chulito's Story
Meet Chulito: The Master of Quiet Resilience

Age: 13+ Years Young
Breed: Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund Mix)
Personality: A soulful, "hands-off" gentleman seeking a peaceful retirement.

Chulito has spent the last two years with us, carefully preparing for the most important chapter of his life: finding you. At 13 years old, he is a tiny, 17 lb explorer who navigates the world through scent, vibration, and a very brave heart. Because Chulito is both blind and deaf, he experiences the world differently than most, and he is looking for a home that speaks his "silent" language.

His Perfect Match
Chulito’s ideal home is a quiet sanctuary. He is a "seniors-for-seniors" kind of guy who would love nothing more than a predictable, low-traffic environment. Because he has some arthritis and navigates with his nose, a home with minimal stairs—or a willingness to use a ramp—is a must. He thrives on routine; once he "maps" your living room, he’ll move through it with a confidence that will amaze you.

Understanding Chulito
Chulito is a "hands-off" companion. Due to his sensory loss and some "old man" arthritis, he can be startled by sudden, unexpected touch. He isn't a dog who wants to be scooped up or crowded. He needs to be aware that you are going to touch him (soft blowing of some air or light touches first) He wants to be near you—curled up in a soft bed by your feet or sitting beside you while you read. He communicates through his presence, and he needs an adopter who respects his personal space and uses gentle "announcements" (like a double-tap on the floor) to let him know you’re there.

Special Requirements
A Patient Heart: Chulito needs time. He won't be your "best friend" on day one, but for the person who gives him space, the reward is watching a vulnerable soul finally feel safe enough to exhale.

Low-Impact Living: Ideally a home with just a couple of steps to the yard or an adopter willing to assist with easy-access transitions.

Predictability: A home without young children or other pets is required to ensure Chulito never feels overwhelmed. With patience, Chulo does get used to other low energy dogs in the home.
