Chuck's Story

Meet Chuck — a big, black, beautifully gentle boy who arrived from New Zealand knowing exactly who he is: a lover, not a competitor. Born June 2021, Chuck is affectionate, playful, and well past the “what’s my name?” stage. He comes when called, walks nicely on lead, and has no interest in throwing his considerable size around. He’s just here for the attention and the smooches.

Chuck has been socialized with small dogs and was relaxed and easy with all of them — even when they were being, as his New Zealand caregivers put it, “little psychopaths.” He’s clean in his kennel, not destructive, and would do well as an only dog or with a calm, respectful canine companion. A cat household would not be the right fit for Chuck.

We’re just getting started with this guy, and everything we’ve seen so far says he’s a genuinely easy, sweet dog who’s ready for his next chapter.
