I am 9 years old and weigh 13 pounds. I am currently being fostered in Denver, CO as my owner could no longer care for me. <br/><br/>I only have one eye, but that doesn’t slow me down at all. My foster family says I’m incredibly affectionate, loyal, funny, and full of personality. I LOVE to snuggle, sleep next to my humans, and follow them around the house. Once I feel safe, I become deeply attached and just want to be included in everyday life.<br/><br/>I’ve settled in really nicely with my foster family and coexist well with their resident dog. I’m not much of a rough-and-tumble playmate, but I do well with calm dogs who respect my space.<br/><br/>I know I am an old dog, but I am great at learning new tricks! I already knew sit and shake, but have also learned come, stay, and spin since I’ve been with my foster family. I am treat motivated and have taken cues easily from my foster brother.<br/><br/>I’m happiest in quieter environments with predictable routines and humans who appreciate sensitive dogs.<br/><br/>I’ll be honest that I can sometimes get overstimulated or anxious, especially in busy or chaotic situations. When that happens, I may bark, pace, or fixate on things for a little while. The good news is that I’ve already shown a lot of improvement in foster care with structure, routine, calm handling, and medication support (Prozac). I respond beautifully to soft voices, petting, reassurance, and consistency, and my foster family has learned that I thrive when life is calm and predictable.<br/><br/>I would do best in:<br/>• a quieter home<br/>• an adult-only or older-kids household<br/>• a home with people around often<br/>• a family that enjoys cuddly companion dogs<br/>• a lower-chaos lifestyle with routines and patience<br/><br/>Here’s a little more about me:<br/>Housetrained? Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.<br/><br/>MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue's Adoption Policy
There is no fee for submitting an application with us. We are not affiliated with any other organization so we do require our application to be submitted in order to be considered. We prefer applications be completed online, We DO adopt to families with fenced in yards or those that live in apartments/condos. MABTR offers a two-week trial period with each adoption to ensure your new dog is a good fit. You only need to complete one application per household, not per dog of interest. MABTR will do our best to help transport any adopted dog within the 13 states we serve. We do not adopt outside of our service area, no exceptions. It may take us up to four days to process your application as we review applications twice a week.
