Chip's Story
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

My name is Chip. I am a dachshund/hound mix. I am a sweet loving dog. My foster family consists of mom and dad and their 2 grandchildren that are 17 and 19. There is also a 6-year-old Boxer/Pyrenees mix, Ginger in my foster home that resembles me, but I won't get as big as her. Then there are 2 cats... one of them stays away but does like dogs that don't pester him. The other cat is a 7-month-old kitten that likes to encourage play and he's wild and crazy. I have no interest in hurting either of them. There is a fish and a guinea pig that I am too interested in, if you know what I mean. I haven't met any smaller children but I think I would be fine with kids of any age.

I am doing great on crate training. I don't mind it some of the time. It keeps me safe and gives me a chance to nap.

I did have 1 accident in the house because mom didn't realize why I was sniffing. Clearly, its a sign I need to do #2. Other than that I like to go out and run in the yard and I'm learning to chase a ball and bring it back.

I am learning basic commands but I expect treats in return. I jump on people because I want to be petted and hugged. I hope to have a forever family soon. I am not a barker though my sister barks at everything. Foster mom doesn't want me to pick up that habit.

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
