Chip's Story
Breed: English setter
Sex: Male, neutered
Age: ~5 years
Weight: 48lbs- needs more groceries!
Location: FL
Good with Dogs: yes
Good with Cats: no
Good with Kids- yes (but probably best with older kids!)
Crate trained- yes
Housebroken- yes
Health- Great, just a picky eater

Meet the sweetest setter you will ever come across, Chip! Chip found himself lost at animal control, and despite his owners promising to come, they never returned for him. However, that irresistible half mask and those loving eyes don’t lie- he has taken everything in stride and doesn’t seem to let anything impact his love for humans and for other dogs. Baths, blow dries, nail trims, car rides, vet appointments- if there’s a person involved, he loves it! He has never met a human he hasn’t wanted to immediately hug, and his tail never stops wagging! Chip does great with kids, but does get very excited and occasionally jumps for his “hugs”, so may do better with older children until he has more time to work on his introduction manners. Luckily, this people pleasing pup learns quick as can be, house trained, crate trained, knowing sit, wait, “okay”, shake, walking well on a leash, and having his daily routine down to a tee.

Chip has thrived in his foster home with 5 other dogs ranging from 18-45lbs, with his favorite being playtime and chasing birds with the other setter at home! Unfortunately, Chip does get a little too excited about cats, and would do best in a cat-free home. He is crate trained and does well in his crate, although he has never appeared to show interest in even dog toys, so he would likely be a good candidate to graduate from this in his forever home! This boy definitely needs to put on a few more pounds, and is a little bit of a picky eater- but vet visits have shown no abnormalities and this has been improving in his foster home!

Chip would thrive in an active home that would take him on plenty of walks and outings- he’s always the first one waiting to jump into the car! But he also loves a good snuggle on the couch! It would definitely be important to continue working on manners, since he is such an excited boy, but as long as his family is involved, he is happy to learn! Do you think Chip could be the one for you?
